A former visiting scholar at multiple French universities, he has published widely on urban and regional development. His work has had a substantial impact on urban regeneration and heritage enhancement, with numerous contributions both nationally and internationally.
The Santagata Foundation for the Economics of Culture is the main partner of the UNESCO Chair in Economics of Culture and Heritage. Established in 2018 on initiative of the Silvia Santagata Research Centre (CSS-EBLA), the Foundation gathers all the know-how and experiences of CSS-EBLA and the studies and activities of Walter Santagata, late Professor of Public Economics and a pioneer in the field of Cultural Economics. To address its mission, the Foundation aims to enable cooperative networking among culture and other sectors operators, to support the internationalization of Piedmontese and Italian economic and cultural operators, in order to generate positive socio-economic impacts. The Santagata Foundation has obtained in 2023 the official recognition of “Foundation in Official Relations with UNESCO” and has been accredited as "NGO to act in advisory capacity to the UNESCO ICH Committee" in 2024. Prof. Elisa SALVADOR holds a Higher Doctorate in economics sciences and management from Paris13 University and an international PhD in Institutions, Economics & Law from the University of Turin (Italy). She has worked on innovation policy for the Italian National Research Council; she has collaborated with the Polytechnic School of Turin and the ESCP-Europe Business School; she worked as a researcher at Ecole Polytechnique de Paris (Paris, 2012-2015), investigating R&D and innovation in the cultural & creative industries. Currently she is a Professor at ESSCA School of Management (France), where she coordinates the Master’s course “Managing Creativity & Innovation” and the MSc course “Technology and Innovation Management”. Her work has been widely disseminated through international peer-reviewed journals, like Research Policy, Industry & Higher Education, the International Journal of Arts Management, Technology Analysis & Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development: an International Journal, the Journal of Technology Transfer. She is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Arts Management (IJAM). Milena earned a Master's degree in Economics of Environment, Culture, and Territory from the University of Turin, specializing in 'Economics and Policies of Culture' with a thesis on illicit trafficking of Italian cultural goods. She also completed a Master's in Art Market Law and Taxation at 24ore Business School and held internships and a research fellowship at the Santagata Foundation and the University of Turin, respectively, contributing to the ‘UNESCO Cluster’ project.
