MISSION

The Chair focuses on research, education and engagement in the field of the economics of cultural heritage.

Data driven research is developed to better understand how culture can contribute to sustainable economic development, and identify effective strategies and policies, paying attention also to the threats to heritage sites (i.e. tourism pressure and volatility, climate change, disasters, conflicts). The exchange of studies, experiences and practices among several actors working in the field of the economics of culture, and in particular in the management of UNESCO World Heritage properties, are the main driver of the Chair activity.

The Chair promotes, both the research and the dissemination of the results, in its academic and capacity building programmes, contributing to raise awareness on the opportunities and challenges to consider culture and heritage as a lever for sustainable development strategies.
